NT Police are seeking any witnesses who may have information about a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened near Bagot Road and Fitzer Drive around 11 pm on Monday.
Police want to speak with those who may have witnessed or assisted in the crash of a white Mitsubishi Express van that killed a 47-year-old man.
“If you were in the area around the specified time and have any information that may assist in the investigation, or if you possess dash-cam footage capturing the crash we urge you to come forward,” police said in a statement.
Initial investigations determined that the man was driving the van when he lost control during a heavy downpour and crashed into a tree. The impact threw him outside the van causing serious injuries.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Initial investigation indicates that speed and not wearing a seatbelt are factors in this crash,” Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said earlier in the week.
“In the wake of this incident, Northern Territory Police urge all motorists to exercise the utmost caution when driving in adverse weather conditions. It is paramount that drivers adjust driving habits to ensure the safety of all road users.”
Witnesses may contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, quoting reference number NTP2400015434.
