A recent NT Police constable recruit undergoing on-the-job training has been charged with weapons offences, after he was observed carrying an imitation Glock gun at the Darwin Police Station, NT Police said, which led to a raid of the officer’s home.

The 23-year-old probationary constable has been suspended with pay. He was seen by other officers carrying the fake gun on Wednesday morning, which police said they believe was 3D-printed.

“Police launched an investigation and searched the officer’s residence, seizing a second 3D printed imitation Glock handgun and a 3D printer,” police media director Mark Wilton said in a statement.

The probationary constable was arrested and has been charged with two counts of manufacturing and possessing a prohibited weapon.

He was bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court on October 27.

Police said the information was “provided in accordance with the NT Police Transparency Guidelines”, but did not provide the name of the officer.

  1. This will be an interesting case to follow. Under NT laws, a replica pistol is covered under a firearm licence. Members of the NT Police Force are deemed as licensed under the NT Police Corporate licence. Not enough information provided under the press release, but that recruit may in fact have committed no offence.

    • The young guy is simply enthusiastic and brought something in for show and tell!
      He should be promoted!
