A hybrid operating theatre will be added to Alice Springs Hospital and is expected to open in the first half of next year, Health Minister Selena Ubio said, an announcement which follows the release of data showing the hospital has a 148 day waiting time for non-urgent elective surgeries.

Ms Ubio said in statement the hospital’s new operating theatre will focus on modern and state-of-the-art technology, and will come with a scrub room, control room, storage room, and plant room at a cost of $7.9 million.
