Inpex’s legal move to stop strike action at its Darwin facility after unions rejected the company’s latest pay hike proposal, arguing any work stoppage would damage the nation’s economy, has been rejected by the Fair Work Commission, with the union stating protected industrial action will continue until the dispute is resolved.
FWC deputy president Michael Easton said on Sunday that the industrial action was unlikely to cause significant economic harm or affect international trade. As a result, Inpex must resume negotiations with unions representing over 400 workers.

Will the NTG side with Inpex? Or support NT workers’ claim for reasonable increases in pay and conditions?
