A federal multi-agency operation to crackdown on illegal foreign fishing off the NT coast has been launched, involving the Australian Border Force, Defence and the fisheries management authority, which will also be responding to foreign people-smuggling activities.

Operation LUNAR, spearheaded by the ABF, builds upon the achievements of Operation LEEDSTRUM in the Kimberley Marine Park and the ongoing initiatives of the Border Monitoring Officer Program in the Torres Strait, the Federal Government said.
