Motorcyclist killed in afternoon crash in Palmerston

A 56-year-old motorcyclist has died in a collision with a vehicle at the intersection of Chung Wah Terrace and Elrundie Avenue on Thursday afternoon, NT Police said.

The fatal crash occurred around 2:30pm in the Palmerston suburb of Moulden.

St John Ambulance attended the scene where paramedics commenced CPR on the man, however he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 28-year-old driver of the vehicle was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said, and is currently assisting police with their investigation into the cause of the crash.

The Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating at the scene, with traffic diversions in place as of late Thursday afternoon.

Further details of the crash were not provided.

The death of the man brings the Territory’s road deaths total to 53 this year.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam of the incident is urged to contact Police on 131 444 and quote the reference number P24301158,” police said in a statement.
