The CLP Government has prepared for Christmas by hiring more corrections officers and expanding operations of the Territory’s courts over the holiday period, ahead of what it expects will be a busy time.
Attorney-General Marie-Clare Boothby announced on Friday that court services would operate at reduced hours for only two weeks, between December 23 and January 4, and not for three weeks as is tradition, with four judges in Darwin working and three in Alice Springs “to prioritise new in custody matter and domestic violence matters”.
