Missing five-year-old Grace Hughes, who police allege was abducted with the assistance of a conspiracy-peddling “group”, has been found in good physical health, NT Police said.

Grace and her mother Laura Hinks went missing on August 7, when it was alleged the girl was taken without permission during a supervised parental visit. The NT Police recently struck a taskforce with the AFP to help find Grace.

On Friday afternoon they said the girl had been located but did not say where.

“Grace is receiving a medical check but is physically in good health,” a police media statement said.

“Her mother is currently assisting police with their inquiries.”

Police arrested 50-year-old Juliet Oldroyd for her alleged role in abducting Grace, charging her with one count of abducting a child under 16 and another count of attempting to abduct a child.

The arrest came following a raid on Ms Oldroyd’s home last Friday night. Police said she was arrested for allegedly refusing to provide information on the whereabouts of Grace and her mother Laura Hinks, aka Laura Bolt.

She had appeared in court earlier this week where she was applauded by a group of people calling themselves “sovereign citizens”.

The NT Police did not mention any group by name when announcing the taskforce on Thursday, saying only that the group involved had peddled “ideologies and false information” with no regard for the “mental well-being of a five-year-old girl”.

“NT Police will continue to target this group and any other persons assisting the ongoing harbouring of Grace,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Jon Beer on Thursday.

“Police will use every power available to them to locate Grace. Anyone who is found to have harboured those who abducted Grace will face significant charges before the courts.”

Police did not mention any details in the statement on Friday afternoon about any potential arrests related to the abduction.

“Police would like to thank those members of our community who provided information that helped us to find Grace,” the statement said.
