Half a kilo of meth and more than $100,000 in cash was seized from a vehicle in Berrimah on Thursday, NT Police said, with drug related charges laid against two men.

However, the police media unit did not explain how it was that police discovered the car or if police were acting on previous intelligence reports about the men or vehicle.

Drug and Organised crime detectives made the seizure of the drugs and cash and arrested two men aged 34 and 37.

The extent of the alleged organised crime operation was also not disclosed by police.

Both men were charged with supplying a commercial quantity of a schedule 1 dangerous drug and possessing “tainted property”.

“Illicit substances, especially methamphetamine, cause substantial damage to the wider community,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Trent Abbott.

“The Drug and Organised Crime Division will continue to remove it from the streets and take all action to disrupt organised crime.”

The men were refused bail and will appear in court at a later date, police said.
