Newly-elected Darwin Lord Mayor Peter Styles has sent defeated candidate Amye Un a cease and desist legal letter, attempting to publicly silence her on questionable legal grounds over her allegation he and his election team were involved in the production and distribution of fraudulent how-to-vote cards during the mayoral election, which is currently under investigation by the NT Police.
The letter dated Wednesday, from Queensland-based Osborne Butler Lawyers and obtained by the NT Independent, shows a lawyer acting for Mr Styles demanding that Ms Un immediately “remove from the public domain” any comments she made about the how-to-vote card scandal, and that she “cease and desist from making any further public comment in relation to the matter” or face consequences.

I wonder if the long suffering partners of the people mentioned in the article, have asked them, “is this all worth it?”
Calls for disolving council and absorbing its Roads Rubbish and Rates functions into the Territory Government is getting louder.
#notmymayor we need a re-election
Agree!
Thank God for Athina Pascoe-Bell. Fiercely independent and proud Mayor of Palmerston.
Totally disappointing that an ex minister from the disgraceful Giles CLP govt is now our Mayor. Problem is many voters were probably not here from 2012-2016 to suffer under their arrogant rule. A one term government because of that arrogance and Styles is still displaying it with his bully tactics. All these ex ministers from both Labor and CLP don’t know when they should hang up their political hats and they overstay their welcome. They get voted out for a reason.
Out of the frying pan into the fire. From one ego-maniac to another.
It would seem that, much like a dodgy laksa, the process of ejecting Ms Un from the political system will be painful, spectacular and crippling…
The New one is nothing like,a unnamed, one-of-the-previous meglomaniac Lord Mayors!!!
