Man who bragged about running Indigenous men down in hit-and-run may have no jail sentence appealed by DPP

Sadness is an emotion everyone acknowledges. Sadistic . . . an enjoyment of cruelty to others. Clearly, Justice Brownhill struggles to differentiate or; awaits confirmation that the matter is under consideration for appeal. One wonders a future for all territorian(s)?
This absolutely horrendous and disgusting situation shows us many of the things that is currently wrong with the Northern Territory in our opinion.
Our household has been in heated debate ever since yesterday when we first read about this on the ABC website.
Here are some bullet points of the many discussions we’ve had in the last 24 hours. They are not in any special order of importance:
~Just when you thought the Northern Territory couldn’t get any worse, it does. This feels like a genuinely new low point. Good onya Sonia. What a stellar message to send out to the rest of Australia and the world, along with all the other “only in the NT” claims we unfortunately have to deal with.
This must be how all the Americans who didn’t vote for Donald Chump must feel at being represented globally by him and his pathetic proselytising posse.
~Where are all the “tough on crime” keyboard warriors now? Screaming for 10 year olds to be locked up and to throw away the key for 20 years etc, all silent now, crawling back under your rocks no doubt.
~Where is Dear Leader’s comment? Or from this point onwards should we just say: How is Megan Miller going to spin her way out of this one for her favourite little “passionate and energetic” LiaR?
~Judge Sonia Brownhill was an NT Government solicitor and the Govt’s go to lawyer to stop Don Dale children from receiving any compensation when they were abused and traumatised often by a group of big meathead ‘security’.
~Jake Danby, you killed someone with your car. Think about what his family felt when after you did that, you called him a “n**ger” and then appeared to celebrate. We’re still shaking our heads in disbelief that you and your friends talk like that about other people, especially after you hit them with your car! Just, WOW.
~Sonia Brownhill, someone admitted to killing an Indigenous man and hospitalising another, then called them “n**gers” amongst many other despicable things. You gave him a slap on the wrist and told him to stay home for 5 months, watching Netflix, surfing the Internet, sleeping in a nice warm bed, eating lovely food, talking to his friends and family.
Completely unjustifiable. You should be removed from the bench for this. Totally outrageous. Justice? Do you even understand the meaning of that word? Or care?
~Imagine for a moment if this had been an Indigenous man who had killed a white guy and injured his white friend with his car. The “tough on crime” brigade would have been shouting and screaming, all red faced. Pitch forks and flaming torches at the ready. Where are you now, hypocrites? Silence…..unsurprisingly.
~We’re calling out the disgusting racism of The System we current tolerate in the NT, once more. As well as those lying racist Police officers that this Government has refused to punish. Maybe Sonia is taking her cues from LiaR and Co?
Think about what message this sends out to the rest of the NT and the country, Megan. Think ‘leading by example’ Megan.
~We can’t believe that people/24 year olds today are even using the word “n**ger”! WTF!
~Saying nothing then having the DPP step in to appeal the sentence, says a lot about the character of this Crappy Littleminded Party. Where’s your legal analysis/comment Attorney-Generally Rubbish? Gone all quiet there too?
~5 months home detention for manslaughter?….but only if the person you kill is Indigenous, yes? Sorry but we couldn’t find that section in the Criminal Code Act where you get a Get Out Of Jail Free card if your victim is Aboriginal.
How can a judge be so inconsiderate and out of touch with reality, in public? We’re really upset and shocked to the core about this. That poor deceased man’s family and friends. *crying emoji*
~Maybe this is the Colonial-Pastoralist-Frontier Territory Lifestyle that the Crappy Littleminded Party (and Sonia Brownhill) are so eager to return us to?
…
NT Criminal Code Act says the following:
s160 Manslaughter
A person is guilty of the crime of manslaughter if:
(a) the person engages in conduct; and
(b) that conduct causes the death of another person; and
(c) the person is reckless or negligent as to causing the death of that or any other person by the conduct.
161 Punishment for manslaughter
A person who is guilty of the crime of manslaughter is liable to imprisonment for life.
@Spiggot: That’s a really interesting reply, please, can you explain how our comment is racist?
“One wonders a future for all territorian(s)”? Well . . . now I know. Late last night. Sound asleep. Almighty ‘bang’! On side of house. Even brought neighbours out from their block with torches. Yes, my values are of earlier generation – 1938. No need for ‘nom-de-plume’. I am an Australian. Calling it as it is . . . still remains of value?
