A 30-year-old man suffering serious head injuries after falling down a cliff at Doctors Gully in the Darwin CBD was rushed to the hospital after being treated by paramedics in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Responding paramedics said the incident happened at 3:40 am on Sunday on the Larrakeyah end of the Esplanade.

“A 30-year-old male had a fall and there’s a lot of cliffs around there and has had quite a substantial head injury, was quite serious,” St John NT operations manager Craig Garraway.

The cause of the fall is still being investigated, Mr Garraway said.

Paramedics also attended a minor incident at the Darwin Airport involving a light aircraft later that Sunday.

“An aircraft there has skidded off the taxiway and airport firies were very quick on the scene. We went out there to attend to the pilot who just had some minor lacerations as a result there,” Mr Garraway said.

He said investigations are underway into that incident.
