A man was stabbed with a knife in the head, neck and chest by a stranger during an argument in a Casuarina shopping centre car park over damage to the alleged offender’s car, NT Police said.
Police communications director Mark Wilton said in a statement that just after 9pm Tuesday, police allege the 39-year-old male victim was walking in the shopping centre car park when he was confronted by an unknown man.
“The confrontation stemmed from alleged damage to the offender’s vehicle, leading to an argument,” he said.
“The offender allegedly produced a knife and proceeded to stab the victim multiple times in the head, neck, chest, and arm before leaving the scene.”
Mr Wilton said St John Ambulance treated the victim at the scene before he was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
Police said the alleged offender was identified through CCTV footage and the 32-year-old man was arrested at a Coconut Grove home and is expected to be charged later today.
Anyone who may have witnessed the stabbing is asked to call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
