A young man has died after he was thrown from the stolen ute he was in, when it rolled over in the Alice Springs CBD overnight, NT Police said.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said in a statement that about 2am police received reports of the theft of a grey Toyota Hilux dual cab ute registered in South Australia, from a caravan park on Palm Place, Ross, a rural suburb southeast of the town.
He said the ute keys were stolen from a cabin at the caravan park, and the stolen ute was driven through the park’s boom gate towards the Ross Highway.
About 3:40am, the ute rolled over and crashed while attempting a right turn onto Railway Terrace from Gregory Terrace, Snr Sgt Linder said.
“CCTV footage captured the incident, revealing a male passenger seated on the door in the open window space when the crash occurred. The vehicle rolled on him, rendering him unconscious,” he said.
Police said eight males were seen fleeing from the overturned vehicle in various directions, leaving the 18-year-old injured man behind.
So it is now at the stage where Government inaction on stopping crime is now killing the criminals as well as increasing the loss to the victims
How are they going to spin this, maybe a million dollar advertising campaign to make sure car thieves buckle up when they steal your car
The whole scenario is wrong on every level and getting worse
Words dont reduce crime but appropriate penalties do. Pretty simple really!!
Oh dear, how sad, never mind.
One less we have to feed.
Natural selection!
That’s a bit unfortunate
