A man was stabbed in Palmerston on Monday night and is in a serious but stable condition, Northern Territory Police have said

Detective Senior Sergeant Brett Cottier said in a statement ,that about 8pm police received reports of a fight between three people on Temple Terrace near the intersection of Roystonea Avenue.

He said a 36-year-old man was stabbed, and was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.

He did not say if anyone had been arrested or charged over the assault but said police are continuing to investigate.
