A man was flown to Royal Darwin Hospital from a community outside Katherine, after he was allegedly bashed repeatedly with a ‘blunt weapon’, NT Police said.
NT Police director of communications Mark Wilton said in a statement that about 5:20pm Saturday, police received reports of an fight between two men who knew each other at the Rockhole community, which is about 10km outside Katherine.
“One of the males allegedly assaulted the other with a blunt weapon causing the victim to fall to the ground,” Mr Wilton said.
“The alleged offender then continued to strike the victim with a blunt weapon before feeling the scene in a vehicle.”
Police said the 33-year-old victim was taken by St John Ambulance to Katherine Hospital and later taken to Royal Darwin Hospital by Careflight. His injuries were not given.
Mr Wilton said a 24-year-old was charged with multiple offences including, going armed in public, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering serious harm, and he was due to appear in Katherine Local Court on Monday.
