A 35-year-old man was arrested in Alice Springs on Sunday after allegedly assaulting his 29-year-old female partner, with both being sent to hospital with injuries, NT Police said.
Police said they received a domestic violence report around 6:50 am and detained the suspect. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Alice Springs Hospital.
The man, who was injured himself, was also sent to the hospital and will be charged with aggravated assault; acts intended to cause serious harm; choking, strangling in a domestic relationship; and engaging in conduct that contravenes a DVO.
“Investigations into this incident are ongoing and both the man and woman remain in hospital in stable conditions,” Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Schumacher said.
“Police urge anyone experiencing domestic or family violence to reach out on 131 444 or in an emergency call 000.”
