A 47-year-old man has been charged with murder following a more than three-year-long investigation into the suspicious death of a woman who was found unconscious on a Katherine street corner in August 2022.

The woman, 47, was located on the corner of Giles Street and First Street near the Katherine courthouse on the morning of August 5 and taken to Katherine hospital, but died the following day, police said.
