A man has been charged for allegedly assaulting a woman on a Darwin Harbour sunset cruise, and later assaulting another woman in a vehicle outside a hotel at the Darwin Waterfront, on Friday evening, NT Police said.
Police director of communications Mark Wilton said in a statement that about 9:30pm Friday police were called to reports of a man assaulting a woman he knew in a vehicle outside a hotel at the Darwin Waterfront.
“City Safe policing units attended shortly thereafter where a 29-year-old male was arrested, and an adult female victim was located with non-life threatening injuries,” Mr Wilton said.
“The incident is believed to be a continuation of an earlier disturbance on a sunset cruise in Darwin Harbour where the same male is alleged to have assaulted another female, who was not known to him.
“The victim in this assault suffered minor injuries.”
Mr Wilton said the man was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, and driving under the influence, as well as being issued with a police domestic violence order, and has been remanded in custody to appear in court today.
“Police would like to thank the members of the public who contacted emergency services enabling a swift response and safe resolution to the incident,” Mr Wilton said.
