A man has been charged for allegedly attacking a woman with an “edged weapon”, leaving her with a serious cut to her chest which required treatment in Royal Darwin Hospital, NT Police said.
Police communications director Mark Wilton said in a statement that about 10.30pm last Friday, a 29-year-old woman was assaulted with an edged weapon at a Wagaman home, allegedly by a 52-year-old man who she knew. The agency did not specify what the edged weapon was.
He said the woman had a serious cut to her chest and was taken to RDH where she remains.
“The alleged offender fled the scene before police arrived, however was arrested a short time later by attending members,” Mr Wilton said.
The alleged offender was charged with one count of recklessly endangering life, and one count of unlawfully causing serious harm, Mr Wilton said, and he was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on Tuesday.
