A man has been charged for an alleged assault after his partner was taken to hospital with serious injuries, NT Police have said.

NT Police media manager Margaret McKeown said in a statement, the Police Domestic Family Violence Unit charged a 29-year-old man following an investigation of the alleged assaulted in Woodroffe on February 18.

“The arrest occurred after the woman attended the Palmerston Regional Hospital as a result of her serious injuries, and police will allege the man physically assaulted his partner while travelling in a vehicle, before further assaulting her at her residence,” she said.

Ms McKeown said the man was charged with unlawfully causing serious harm, and remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on May 5.
