A man has been charged over an alleged aggravated assault using an edge weapon in Katherine last week, NT Police have said.

Detective Sergeant Byron May said the 51-year-old had been charged with one count of recklessly endangering with serious harm, and will appear in Katherine Local Court on Monday.

He said that at 5:30am on Friday, police had been told two men had been allegedly assaulted with an edged weapon by a 51-year-old man at a property on the Victoria Hwy,at Katherine South. Sgt May said the two men were taken to Katherine Hospital in stable conditions.

Sgt May said police believe the three men knew each other.
