Man attacked with ‘edged weapon’ in Mitchell St

Police are looking for a man who allegedly attacked another man with an “edged weapon” on Mitchell St in Darwin in the early hours of Monday morning.

NT Police director of communications Mark Wilton said in a statement that at 1:28am Monday, police received reports that a man had been assaulted with an “edged weapon” after approaching a ute on Mitchell Street and speaking to the driver.

“The alleged offender fled the scene in a silver Nissan Navara,” he said.

A crime scene was established on Mitchell Street between Peel Street and Mott Circuit.

Mr Wilton said the victim was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital but did not say what his injuries were, what condition he was in, or what weapon was used. There was also no description of the alleged offender.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the attack to call them on 131 444 (quote job number P24168489), or make an anonymous report by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or through the website.
