A man has been arrested following a police pursuit after officers tried to stop him over an aggravated burglary he allegedly committed in Alice Springs last Thursday.
Police director of communications Mark Wilton said in a statement the 23-year-old man drove off from police after an attempted traffic apprehension on Todd Street in the city about 3.40am Monday.
“A short pursuit had ensued, before the offender stopped on the Stuart Highway north of Alice Springs where he was taken into custody without incident,” Mr Wilton said.
Police alleged the man was one of three males and three females who broke into a house on Smith St in Ciccone on Thursday evening, and threatened a 51-year-old man, before stealing items and his blue Toyota Hilux parked on site.
Mr Wilton said the man was expected to be charged later today. Police did not mention whether they have caught the other alleged offenders.
