A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged after an allegedly unprovoked assaulted on two women at an Alice Springs servo, NT Police said.
Police said that the first woman was assaulted at the service station on Railway Terrace around 3:50am Wednesday, when a second woman, who tried to intervene was also attacked by the same man before fleeing. Both women, aged 27-years-old were customers at the service station.
Both victims were treated at hospital for minor injuries after the attack, police said.
“Both women were taken to the Alice Springs Hospital for treatment following what can only be described as a violent unprovoked assault. It is unbelievable the women did not suffer more significant injuries,” Detective Constable First Class Vanessa Heffernan said.
Police identified and located the assailant using CCTV footage and was arrested and expected to be charged yesterday.
