A 55-year-old man has been charged with gross indecency without consent in relation to an alleged indecent assault at a roadhouse campground in the Barkly region on Friday night, NT Police said.

Police received a report of an indecent assault around 8pm Friday, which was alleged to have occurred at the campground of what is believed to be the Barkly Homestead on the corner of the Barkly Highway and Tablelands Highway.

Police alleged the 55-year-old male approached a female who was not known to him “and indecently assaulted her”.

Police attended the scene to investigate, with the man arrested and taken to the Tennant Creek watch house.

He was since charged with gross indecency without consent and remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court on Wednesday, February 11.
