A 22-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly robbing a man at knifepoint in Leanyer on Saturday evening and fleeing the scene on a bus, NT Police said.
Police said the incident occurred just before 6pm near a bus stop on Vanderlin Drive, when the alleged offender pulled a knife on the other man and stole “numerous small items and fleeing onto a bus”.
Police said detectives “worked throughout Sunday and identified the alleged offender”. He was arrested this morning “without incident”, but police did not say where. He is expected to be charged with aggravated robbery, with the stolen items returned to the victim.
“This was a cowardly assault and our members have not stopped since it occurred,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Kren.
““Police commend the quick actions of the victim in quickly informing us of the robbery as that allowed us to immediately begin investigations and to identify and locate the alleged offender.
“Police continue to urge the public to immediately contact police if you witness crime or anti-social behaviour on 131 444 or in an emergency to call Triple Zero.”
