A 22-year-old man who went on a three-day crime spree last week around the northern suburbs that the police media unit did not inform the public about was finally arrested on Monday at Casuarina, NT Police said.

Police said the man started his crime spree on the evening of February 2 when he allegedly assaulted a worker before stealing a “large quantity of alcohol with a group of co-offenders”.

The man allegedly then went back to the same business later that night and again the next day, stealing more grog, police said.

On February 4, the man allegedly targeted businesses in Marrara and Casuarina, stealing more alcohol.

Police said in a statement that detectives from Strike Force Trident were able to identify the 22-year-old through CCTV footage and he was arrested on Monday.

He was charged with three counts of stealing and three counts of aggravated robbery.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said the recidivist nature of the alleged crimes in this case was strange.

“It is very irrational for offenders to think that they can continue stealing from businesses without consequence,” he said.

“Police urge anyone who witnesses criminal or anti-social behaviour to contact police on 131 444 or in an emergency to call Triple Zero.

“You can also make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
