It seems the bullshit practiced by this ‘Konny come lately’ as a Minister in the Martin ‘Government continues. (He arrived here in 1993 to share his wisdom on the NT and improve our cultural void, In 1993, Vatskalis secured a job managing the NT Health Department’s Darwin Environmental Health Unit as he was an ‘Expert’ on the NT’s environmental health, apart from the thousands of indigenous who had about 60,000 years more experience). As the Environmental Heath of the NT suffered disastrously under his guidance, it was time to move to politics, and he was elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly 8 years later, once he (and his brilliant cohorts) had become experts on who the NT should be, not who it was.
Under the Martin Government, the NT lost its identity and culture, not to mention our financial stability. The rest is history to a point where we are the poorest people in Australia, there is an uprising from our Indigenous society, crime, and anti-social behaviour, but we have real flash coffee and cakes as they have down south whilst we have no policy to allow the Indigenous elders to regain some control of their communities, with the possible exemption of Groote to a degree.
Kon, you will never be a Territorian, you don’t understand how we think and never will, not even the Greek Territorians who have been a power in our development and culture for so long.
You now insult the very Darwin residents who you promised to serve. SHAME ON YOU

As a half-century Top Ender, I second your sentiments. After Tracy came the plastic Territorians, few of whom could survive beyond the city services frontier. They have destroyed a demographic that was world famous in the early 1970s and which was the cause of the population explosion of the time. The plastic brigade is led by the ABC and city council and has permeated our public service so completely that most services are now tokenistic.
Too many Johnie come Latelies from south have totally decimated the old NT and us oldies are idiots who know nothing and treated like proper cowboys. Perhaps we were cowboys but hell, life was good for years while it lasted. 60 years up and still dont want to go despite now living behind barb wire barricades , lights, cameras and alarms and putting up with bureaucrats who have no idea of true living and life in general.
Apart from boycotting official stuff, and attending the various un-official ( non -bureaucratic, volunteered by TRUE cyclonic survivors) memorial events, I’m half – interested in suing the DCC for the tax paid $600k if it’s NOT used for the purpose it was intended for?
Kon can’t have been a good pollie, he still doesn’t realise that it’s lies & cover-ups that cause political downfalls, not obsfucation.
