The ABC News website says ‘it’s Australia’s most trusted news source’ but just recently I doubt that.
I regularly read the ABC news on line but one matter stood out lately which I think shows an attempt by the ABC to hide an important news story.
On Monday’s NT Country Hour, presenter Matt Brann read out the findings of the Communications Watchdog ACMA, which said the ABC 4 Corners episode Water Grab breached accuracy and impartiality requirements.
Now you would have thought such a serious issue would be found newsworthy enough to be on the ABC local news website but nothing has appeared.
Unless you were listening to the Country Hour you would not know about it.
Why has the ABC not reported this on its local news website, NT top stories?
If a company or the government had acted in this way, it would have been headlines and on the website for days.
By not reporting it properly the ABC is showing again it is not impartial and therefore cannot be a trusted news source.
If you want trust, report your mistakes to your readers, don’t hide them, even if embarrassing, and try and make sure the facts of a story are accurate and not skewed by journalists’ opinions. Perhaps the ABC could take lessons from Matt Brann in how to deliver a trusted news source programme.

Defund the ABC, save $1.2billion tax-payer funds. ABC push transgender ideology through ACON. ABC no longer serves the community with frank & fearless reporting. Remember Dr Norman Swan pushing COVID ‘save & effective’ mandated bioweapon propaganda which has killed & maimed Australians. Of course they omit responsibility on their website, manipulated news.
