Dear Editor,
As a senior with mobility issues living in Stuart Park, we have seen bus stop #103 move several times, its original location provided some shelter from the tropical climate, its current location is exposed to the sun and would offer no protection from rain or wind.
There is no seating which excludes most seniors and is not accessibility compliant.
We notice that a petition has been created which is gaining local support.

This bus stop services six different routes and meets the minimum patronage for a compliant structure including shelter, seating and wheelchair accessibility, yet the local member for Fong Lim is defiant and dismissive of supporting accessibility, safety and inclusion for older patrons or those dependent on public transport.
It is clear that local businesses are disadvantaged by substandard public transport facilities.

I have learnt today that issues around bus stop #103 may be revisited, while this does not indicate a commitment, we can only hope.
Seniors and those with various disabilities must be part of solutions moving forward and to drive a vibrant community of which Stuart Park is.
I look forward to a commitment from the NT Government.
