A day after the Federal Government committed a quarter of a billion dollars for renewable energy in the Territory, the Lawler Government has signed another gas supply agreement with a key Beetaloo Basin player for the Territory’s electricity system, again before the company has been provided final environmental approvals for expansion or finalising an agreement with Traditional Owners.
Chief Minister Eva Lawler signed the supply agreement with Empire Energy on Friday, that will see a “target” of 25 terajoules of gas per day from the company’s Carpentaria Pilot Project used to keep the lights on in the government’s crumbling electricity grid.
Good outcome moving forward. Empire Energy Group has give some welcome transparency on the pricing, unlike the deal with Taboran who happens to be a Territory Labor financial donor.
Simple fact, No gas No lights.
Simple fact…hydraulic fracturing of gas in the Beetaloo basin puts at risk our precious water supplies.
Simple fact..,contaminated water supplies mean no clean water for animals, people, or the physical environment.

Simple fact…now water, no way for homeowners to sell their properties.
