Territory Labor says it will commit the $180 million to cover the bare minimum needed to tackle domestic violence in the Territory – if elected – after eight years of steady cuts to DV services and following internal reports released a year ago that warned the government’s cuts and inconsistent policies could result in “serious harm or death”.
It was revealed last August that the Labor Government ignored its own interagency Domestic Violence taskforce’s recommendations, which identified the $180 million need over five years, choosing instead to fund only $20 million over two years in a jurisdiction with the highest rates of domestic violence in the country.
Without a doubt the ‘lowest of the low’ have ruined the NT, so very sad, let’s hope and pray that the next generation have their ‘heads screwed on’ when it comes to their off springs’ futures’…..
For a government that claims to have recently discovered common sense it has very little of it.
