What are the land councils doing to help their people with their 10s if not hundreds of millions of dollars?
Why don’t they fund the starting of remote businesses and industry?
I’ve never received a cent of help from the government. Why do some people believe they deserve money for giving nothing back in return?
And honestly, I don’t care what criminals think of the conditions of detention. It was their choice to commit crimes. No sympathy, no matter who the criminal is.
It is not racist to expect basic decency in public nor to require people not to commit crimes.
Totally agree. In this world where society is striving for equality in all things that would be very “equal”. Racism in todays world only applies to Caucasian people. It is a western concept that is being used to “punish” the generations of evil people who can be held responsible for the sins of their ancestors. Shame it doesn’t go both ways.

@Erwin Rommel:
“It (racism) is a western concept”
That’s a really funny statement, thanks for the laughs – ‘Caucasian people’ don’t have a monopoly on racism, there are racists all over the world, it’s as old a concept as humans/neanderthals/homosapiens/homoerectus are.
…the views are not surprising of course from someone who calls themselves after a man with such clear ties to the Nazi Regime.
Omg what a revelation that at german general shook hands with a chief of the german army…..wow lol. So based on your theory then any person who shook hands with Hitler was a nazi….so Jesse owens was a nazi…so I guess you also researched that Erwin Rommel was not accused of any war crimes or atrocities and was part of a plot to bring down hitler and you no doubt know of his demise….angel please enliven us little people about the cave man word for racism. In the manner to which your accustomed to I submit this for your perusalhttps://www.hud.ac.uk/news/2020/june/george-floyd-murder-and-the-history-of-racism/#:~:text=Racism%20is%20a%20specific%20historical,emerge%20in%20the%20Middle%2DAges. However I see now that your “theories” are based on throw away “obvious” speculations. So go ahead an pidgeon whole and stereotype people all you like. That seems to be the easy way out for leftist leaning individuals.

Steve Edgington was a cop for 29 years and won his seat by 5 votes. Hardly a ringing endorsement.
Of course all he has is empty words, same as Dole, which is what he should be on.
All of those concerns and requests are completely 100% valid and would be a useful way to begin to engage with systemic and structurally ingrained racism and other numerous negative issues which affects not only the organisations, their employees and their decision making but also the greater community as a whole.
….which is exactly why this CLP Crappy Littleminded Party and their friends, Dole-ing out nothing burgers to legitimate concerns of the public, will refuse to entertain any of them.
Lia must change the sacred sites act name to reflect what it really is to significant sites act and than publish a map showing all sites that must be signposted as you can get a life destroying fine for walking on one. Also why would you develop anything within cooed of these sites. Also ensure that the crimes act treats extortion severely. The Land Councils must stop being against any attempts to create jobs in communities and be grateful to the taxpayers who support their very comfortable existance.
You want Lia to do what? Mate she’s baking cakes and dancing with the stars and being photographed by her personal photographer. She has no time for your suggestion, or crime or debt reduction !
Nobody is getting fined for walking on sacred sites. And if the govt would do its job and release land, so businesses could access premises and remote worker housing, land councils could do their job in getting the agreements done. Nobody can do much about economic development when govt isn’t releasing land. Land councils are only really set up and funded to deal with the Aboriginal aspects of land tenure, they’re not the govt and they can’t really create jobs alone.
You should read the legislation: fifty grand or two years in prison. The government can not release land in Land Council areas; the Land Councils can. The problem is the Land Councils.

Professor Boofby, you’ve upped your game! Very impressive.
It seems this article really has touched a nerve with you, taking up 5 comment boxes already! ** clapping emoji **
We suspect you’re getting some writing help but regardless, allow us to address a couple of your points.
“So just to equalise things we should have people in the Mall screaming black Cs”
Wonderful idea, many would disagree but we think you’re a genius.
We’re not sure why no one else in Governments around the world has offered this as a solution to fixing deep rooted, complex, colonial era problems with continuing racism.
… Seriously, if you really want to equalise things as you say then take a step back and first identify what the issue in dispute is (hint: it’s mentioned many times in the article, we know you don’t like to read but give it a shot, please): Perceived racism in the NT Police and also in Crappy Littleminded Policies, over representation in prisons, on top of refusing to conduct an independent racism review of said racist Police Force.
You ‘equalise’ a system infected with racism (Government, organisations, society), both subtle and overt, by working to eradicate racism with the goal of treating everyone fairly/the same.
… As a general observation we think it’s ironic to see/read people residing on stolen land, complain bitterly when some of the people whose land was stolen, and who have managed to retain some control over parts of that land, choose to do with their land as they please.
And the vitriol spat out when those choices don’t align with someone else’s who clearly think theirs is more important. Scary stuff.
The large dark cloud of colonialism looms over our country and continues to affect the lives of all of our citizenry, of all different levels of melanin in our skins.
We’d like to see more general acceptance of the damage done, followed by positive engagement so we can collaborate on workable and equitable solutions (which might also affect some of those crime figures) without the need to arm everyone with a Glock pistol.
However, if you want to stand in the mall screaming at Aboriginal people, you go right ahead. Feel lucky you’re not 10 years old, you’d get locked up for such terrible choices under this CLP Government.
… Let us know when you’ve successfully equalised society and there are no more lying racist Police officers unburdened by consequences and still getting paid out of our tax dollars while 11 year old girls are imprisoned in Palmerston watch house overnight.
Perhaps they could clean up their own back yard first and do something about their kids causing kaos and mayhem on the streets every night of the week night.

@Erwin Rommel:
If you choose to be paid to kill millions for Hitler and his Nazi party then in our mind you’re a Nazi too.
It’s slightly ridiculous to suggest that everyone who shakes hands with Hitler is a Nazi, that’s a hasty generalisation which is very obviously wrong.
Our household would also disagree with your PhD student’s idea too. We could argue that ‘race’ is not a thing or that discrimination based on race can exist without labels but that’s for a different time.
Therefore, people don’t need labels when they’re discriminating against The Other by cause of different features.
… There’s not much difference from these following photos with actual chains to the metaphorical chains we see around necks still to this day. And now round children’s necks.
Something needs done about it and in our opinion it starts with acceptance of history and moves forward from there.

Many of us, most of us, are sick of the whinging.
Who put these clowns up to protest, it only draws attention to their own massive faiures.

What a vindictive little rag the NTI has become. Spare us the regurgitation of Land Council BS.
As BC would have said int eh good old days. T.E.F.E.
Exactly

You finished nicely by showing your own double standards, in doing the very thing you are complaining that we are doing:
“So go ahead an pidgeon whole and stereotype people all you like. That seems to be the easy way out for leftist leaning individuals.”
We’ll finish there too.
Wow seems to me the “chains don’t stop the crime and lawlessness . Or are we to live forever in a perpetual cyclic victimised culture.
