The Finocchiaro CLP Government has extended its pepper spray for self-defence trial until December 31 as it plans to introduce legislation to provide permanent public access to the spray and expanding its use for teenagers.

The government said the extension would not affect eligible residents who can legally possess, carry, and use OC spray in accordance with current regulations. It is also exploring allowing individuals aged 16 and older to use OC spray, as well as for “shared household use”.
