‘It is just a big joke’: Attorney-General left health complaints review committee dormant

An Alice Springs man who tried to complain about how the Health and Community Services Complaints Co

So, currently, those suffering misadventure or mistreatment have no recourse to address health related issues in the Northern Territory.
How can this be on hold until the CLP government gets it’s act together?
Surely the health of Territorians should be an absolute priority and complaints should be reviewed with urgency?
Seems to be in conflict of the healthcare charter of rights.

If the
Acting Commissioner Ruth Brisbane is not capable of filling the role in the interim, (closing complaints before a response or investigation is bizzare), then this government needs to provide a solution, one that respects to complainant.
Another day in the backward Northern Territory where the CLP Politicians are too busy going to multiple Tax Payer funded NGO events, daily, to get their snouts photographed by the bought off media.
Meanwhile basic functions like complaining about poor health treatment has been effectively abandoned.
The NT is a absolute joke and the CLP are shown to be incompetent!
Darwin is The Truman Show, fake, last frontier Australia money pit.
So…the move to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic which is meant to restore our faith in integrity and accountability in public systems and fairness, actually removes consumers health care rights because once again, Boothby proves she is too inept to do the background work. NT Health ditched the Health Advisory Committee, the premier consumer voice to government in the proactive space, and now shows clearly that in the reactive space it is unable to cope…and has been for some time, with no resolution in clear sight. I pity the public servants who will be bearing the brunt of Boothby’s uselessness.
“AND I THOUGHT I WAS THE MOHICAN”?
Setting aside disappointment, fear, and repressed anger. Now revealing the “Complaint Review Committee” realities. Felt it was only fair. I too be heard?
Eighty eight years come March 2026. A client of a Rural – Remote Aged Care Service Provider that has struggled valiantly on my behalf.
Just two examples; 1) A wrist watch ‘Fall’ alarm. 2) A phone call request for an appointment to clarify a classification correction. Reference. “Category (3)”.
“Wrist Watch “Fall Alarm”: Has failed to operate, now exceeding twelve months of constant requests for replacement. Numerous falls. No response.
Rang Darwin Health – Aged Care for an Appointment to see if we could resolve the problems. Receptionist was courteous and requested I hold and he would forward my call. What followed was crystal clear. Was redirected four times to other Organisations. Each having no means or understanding. The fourth Organisation, based in Sydney NSW, clarified ‘my’ understanding. A clear intent of Darwin Office to avoid my request for an “Appointment” after years of confusion.
Neither CLP or ALP governance over the last fifteen years has met or delivered required responsibilities. Nor is there any evidence of change, accountability, transparency. There is no future for territorians. For there is no intent within the ranks of Elected Representatives whatsoever. Without Federal intervention . . . just like Health and Hospitals? We already, submerged.
The Dept. of Health & Aged Care was in full denial of it’s responsibilities.
As Megan points out, the NT Health Advisory Committee was disbanded without consultation with its members.
The only avenue now open to Mr Campbell and other Territorians for addressing their complaint is through their local Regional Community Engagement Group (RCEG), which meets quarterly.
There are 8 regions in the NT. They each have a Secretariat who can be contacted to have the relevant item added to the agenda.
Good luck, Mr Campbell.
This is because of the fabulous Health CEO, promoted from the DCDD/DCIS mess which all Territorians have been effected by, ala Your Acacia Medical records are a complete mess, the reporting is non existant and so is your interactions with the Justice System (SERPRO) and PROMIS (the legacy system which loses complaints/case data).
The Health Minister is clueless and out of her depth and would not know how to respond without a gaggle of media advisors.
This failure to have a Health Complaints committee up and running is very in line how the CEO ran DCDD/DCIS!
The CLP have proven to Territorians they are a Dictator led shambles and would be voted out of there was a election today.
