The Director of the Centre for Public Integrity has described as “absurd” a decision by the Acting Independent Commissioner Against Corruption to suppress the name of a former Supreme Court judge she briefed to oversee the continuing investigation of the then-Labor government’s misuse of public resources during the 2020 general election.
In a statement to the NT Independent late on Tuesday afternoon Acting ICAC Naomi Loudon said Operation Jupiter had been handed over to an unspecified former Supreme Court judge because she was conflicted.
No kidding, myself and a couple of other ex-coppers would have had this investigation completed YEARS AGO and at a FRACTION of the cost this is turning out to be. ICAC is a ridiculously expensive waste of resources and it cannot even pretend to deliver on its charter.
Makes you wonder who picked this particular judge and why, and what the parameters of their “brief” were.
