The Territory’s peak construction industry body is calling on the NT Government to immediately introduce “substantial grants” to boost demand for new housing construction after figures show private dwellings in the NT dropped to only 25 approvals in April.
Master Builders NT chief executive Ben Carter said the figures highlight the “crisis” the industry has been feeling and that the government needs to boost confidence and attract private investment, to improve home ownership in the NT, which is almost 20 per cent lower than the national average.
