The Fyles Government’s recently announced $11.5 million for fire services in the NT has been met with indifference from the union representing firefighters, who say the fire service is “in crisis and firies are leaving” amid protracted contract negotiations which the new funding does not address.

“We are very disappointed that the funding was not discussed with us and sends a clear message what the Government thinks of the fire fighter union and our dedicated firies,” United Workers Union NT secretary Erina Early said.
