The Aboriginal Areas Protection Agency is taking its legal fight over Kakadu’s Gunlom Falls walking track construction to the High Court, following a Supreme Court ruling the Federal Government was immune from any criminal punishment, it has been reported.

The NT News reported the case was listed for two days of arguments in the High Court from Tuesday, with the AAPA acting against the Director of National Parks, a dispute which started after the director approved construction of a Gunlom Falls walking track in Kakadu National Park in March 2019, despite the area being a registered sacred site for Jawoyn people.
