Life Education NT is celebrating 40 years of Healthy Harold in the Northern Territory with a new range of retro merchandise aimed at raising money to take its health and wellbeing programs to 40 communities across the Territory.

Then organisation’s business development manager Page McMillan said the limited-edition “Road to 40” collection features T-shirts, hats and accessories inspired by the iconic giraffe’s 1980s heyday, with proceeds helping fund visits by Life Education NT’s mobile classrooms.

She said the collection’s main artwork was created by Territory-based creative agency Wild Creek and draws on the themes of connection, learning, community spirit and nostalgia associated with Healthy Harold and Life Education NT’s work.

“We’re incredibly proud of this range, particularly the artwork developed by the crew at Wild Creek. It captures the Territory spirit and the impact Life Ed has had on communities over the last 40 years,” Ms McMillan said.

“Whether you’re a former student, teacher or simply someone who loves what Healthy Harold represents, you will not want to miss out on this opportunity to be a part of our history, while helping us continue delivering health and wellbeing education across the Northern Territory.”

Life Education NT chief executive officer Martha Baker said the organisation was aiming to reach 40 communities as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.

“Who doesn’t love Healthy Harold? Whether you know him from the early years or more recently, Harold is an Australian icon,” Ms Baker said.

“We are calling on Territorians, and Harold supporters right across Australia and the world, to help us reach 40 communities in our 40th year.

“All profits go directly to our work on the ground, helping Harold and his team of amazing educators equip more young people with the knowledge and skills to make safer, healthier decisions, for themselves and their community.”

The 40th anniversary merchandise collection is available through the Life Education NT online store.
