Group of seven hold up Hibiscus Tavern with ‘edged weapon’: Police

Police are looking for “up to seven” young people who they allege held up the Hibiscus Tavern with an “edged weapon” and stole alcohol.

NT Police media manager Margaret McKeown said in a statement that about 10.30pm police received reports of the potential septet of young people allegedly threatening an employee of a Leanyer Drive business with an edged weapon before stealing alcohol and then running away.

She said Strike Force Trident were investigating but did not say what sort of weapon was allegedly used, or the value of what was allegedly stolen.

Ms McKeon also did not say what business it was but the NT Independent has confirmed it is the Hibiscus Tavern.

Police are asking anyone with any information to call them on 131 444 or to report it anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
