The Lawler Government has proposed spending close to $1 billion in today’s dollars on building a new Darwin City football stadium along with upgrades to other regional grounds to support a new Territory AFL team, which a taskforce believes could begin playing in seven to 10 years.
Former AFL boss and disgraced casino director Andrew Demetriou has also joined the taskforce to help win an AFL licence for the proposed team, the Lawler Government announced at a press conference on Thursday, where a business case was released two years late.

I know someone with a medical condition their physician recently characterised as “urgent” when referring him for treatment at RDH. Late June is the earliest appointment he can get! This is what perpetual “Code Yellow” means for Territorians but Lawler would rather spend $1 B on fantasy football.
Dream on, anyone can write a report to make things look rosy. How about fixing health, education, roads and a few other essentials rather than listen to rubbish such as this.
I’d be surprised if any professional consultancy wrote a rosy report – I suggest it is all in an insane interpretation of a polite “You’re Dreaming” finding, through red-coloured glasses and eye-balls.
