The Finocchiaro Government has released expressions of interest for a company to operate the barge service from Darwin to Wadeye after barge owner Auriga’s decision to move out of regional logistics in the Northern Territory.
Last week Thamarrurr Development Corporation chair Mark Tunmuck put out a press release calling on the NT and federal governments to intervene to prevent what he was was a potential “avoidable humanitarian crisis” this wet season because the barge that carries food from Darwin was to stop on September 1.
If the Wadeye locals could take some goods down in the boot of all the stolen cars from Darwin……
