The Darwin Basketball Association was forced to adjourn its annual general meeting this week because it could not provide audited financial statements for both it and the Darwin Salties NBL1 side for two years, which the chairman claimed was because its bookkeeper was sick, while the government declined to explain why $400,000 of taxpayer money was given to an organisation before seeing audited financial records.
The meeting that was to cover both the 2022 and 2023 financial years was adjourned suddenly on Sunday, after a motion was put from the floor following the announcement there was only a draft version of the association’s 2022 financial statement to be presented instead of an audited version.
They must be running out of tax payer money, they normally hand it out in $10,000,000 lumps.
Can this rabble get any grubbier? I suspect yes.
