Time to start a local bakery and butchers plus of course a fish shop and the wet won’t be a problem, since the road is a private road and you have hundreds of unemployed fix it yourself, its time to get off your backside.

The comments above are incredibly ignorant and dismissive of the effect on the population of Wadeye… I was in Wadeye regularly during the Blacktip Gas project and interacted with many of the folk in that community. Like any community, they have amazing, kind, generous and community focused people for whom Wadeye has been home for their entire life. Yes like every community there are people who have zero community spirit, are destructive and contribute little to society…. SOUND LIKE DARWIN …Darwin is no different. so if you are so against the folk from Wadeye, coming into Darwin, instead of your negative slurs, why don’t you contact your local MP and demand that they place pressure on the very disappointing Government we have, (who have not even got the guts to take an interview with the NT Indipendent), to solve this transport problem which is going to force these folk out of their home and their lifestyle into a situation where they have next to ZERO hope of gaining work to support themselves and their families and will simply place an even greater burden on all of the community services in Greater Darwin ….It will increase your waiting time at any and all governmental services such as Hospital, police and ambulance as well as Centre-Link if you require them.
You will be effected but not at the fault of the Wadeye population, but because of inept Government action… or lack there of.
You know there’s many many remote indiginous communities in the NT right, and none are remotely like Wadeye?
Wadeye’s Tourist Marketing includes: (1) Best place to find your stolen car. Congrats to the rumoured Wadeye local auto industry figure showing local kids how to start cars without keys!
(2) When Gunja prices get too high the locals riot. I wonder if thats a signal to the cops to stop blocking the flow of gunja into the community? Expensive to build, tax payer funded housing sometimes catch fire in those riots!
(3) When a member of Clan A gets a newly built expensive to build, tax payer funded house, Clan B provide a Welcome gift in the form of spears in the brand new Aircon units. All fixed by the tax payer!
(4) Dont forget to park your cars at a certain angle within the barbed wire fenced workers camp or you will find your windscreens rocked.
I do not doubt or discount your claims that the NTG have washed their hands of the place! Its easy to see why!
An upcoming Wet Season to remember. Certainly to prepare for?

Thank god we’re getting pepper spray Monday.
If they come to Darwin, we’ll definitely need it!
Oh well there’s plenty of new goal beds for them.
Best Marketing In The World!
Fix our problem or 100’s of Civic Minded, Courteous, Well Educated Wadeye Residents will storm the castle.
If you own a Toyota or Nissan 4WD, you better call your local MLA before it goes for a test drive down the track.
