  1. No doubt there is already a backlog caused by problems at NAAJA. How many of their cases fell on NT Legal aid Services. Much more work needs to be done by a multitude of services aimed at prevention.

  2. How Many Fabulous People Are On The Revolving Turnstile of the Court System?????

  3. Perhaps we might consider paring some of the pointless targets for expenditure, such as making recidivists ineligible for legal aid.

I invoke the reciprocity principle here: Those who habitually commit crimes are seldom victimized by unfortunate confluence of dreadful misfortune. They are invariably lazy bastards with no respect for anyone: from victims to taxpayers. Therefore they do not deserve free legal aid.

Likewise, those who use violence and intimidation in robbery, rape, and unprovoked bashing. Give them nothing but what they gave others.

We have probably saved half the entire legal aid budget already.

    • Tony Ryan. Well said -rational and succinct. Lia there’s an idea for you.

  4. It would pay to look at the past 3 years Fin Reports. Makes for interesting reading.

Also what % of files are outsource and does the rate for outsourcing vary between lawyers and vary between Barristers?

Any truth in the rumour Bali was the destination for the last staff bash up? If so that’s 1 expense line that can be removed.
