Mission Australia Housing NT and Venture Housing have taken over management of 500 public housing properties in Darwin and Palmerston, which is part of a plan to move up to 40 per cent of urban public housing to community housing providers, the Lawler Government has said.

Urban Housing Minister Ngaree Ah Kit said in a statement it was the government’s first large-scale transfer of public housing management to community housing providers in the greater Darwin region, with Mission Australia Housing NT taking over the management of 251 homes in Darwin’s northern suburbs, while Venture Housing has taken on the management of 250 homes in Palmerston.
