A 14-year-old girl was “assaulted with an edged weapon” in Alice Springs on Sunday night and left in a serious condition, Northern Territory Police said.

Senior Sergeant Adam Donaldson said in a statement they were looking for witnesses to the attack, which happened around 9:30pm in a “large disturbance” in the Todd St and Stott Terrace area.

He did not specify how she was assaulted or if in fact he meant stabbed, nor exactly what a “large disturbance” meant.

Snr Sgt Donaldson said she was taken to Alice Springs Hospital in a serious condition.

“Investigations into this incident are ongoing and at this stage there have been no arrests,” he said.
