Calling all geeks everywhere! Get your tickets now for Geek Culture Collective’s first Tropicon event happening in Darwin on October 1 at the Darwin Entertainment Centre.

There will be something for everyone at Tropicon, including a cosplay competition and parade; role-play games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Star Wars, Paizo Pathfinder and Starfinder; board games such as Settlers of Catan and Blood on the Clock Tower.

There will also be miniature-painting workshops including Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar; esports competitions, a free-to-play gaming hub; video game design studio; Territory-built video games; exhibitors and stalls; Artist Alley and competition; and special guest participants.

GCC, in partnership with Northern Lights NT, also brings the Light the Lot, a family-friendly, alcohol-free event and fundraiser for Tropicon which will be held at the former RSL site in Darwin.

Light the Lot includes light and gaming projections, free esports tournaments by Next Tier, dancing and photo opportunities with Zombies from the Zombie Walk, digital graffiti including live comic creation, with prizes and giveaways thrown in for good measure.

Food and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase and are proudly sponsored by the Mad Snake Café.

Tickets for the Zombie Walk are available now through Eventbrite.

Whether it’s families gathered around the TV playing video games or watching superhero flicks, it’s clear the age of pop culture is definitely with us.

“Everyone has something they ‘geek out’ about,” said Geek Culture Collective chairman Nestor Sanchez. “Come meet your people, or try something new, you may just find a new passion.”

Tropicon is a fresh and exciting addition to the Territory events calendar and celebrates all things geek and pop culture. The event brings together all small geek-based groups and engages with the larger non-geek community in sharing their passions.
